Today – March 8 – is International womens day. I have no clue what it means, which is the same for all days that wants to highlight something a day for some reason I don't know. Yes, I understand it wants to empower women (somehow) and yes – I understand its intention is towards women equality in society. I might be wrong, but here is my take why these kind of days are counterproductive and useless – Especially for women.
Let's assume there were a stupid peoples day. Are there stupid people? Let's go beyond the word, but less intelligent for sure. Is this wrong? Of course! The fact that we are different in all ways possible is a good thing. Thus, completely unnecessary to highlight the fact that some are dwarfs or have huge ears or less intelligent with numbers OR whatever your (dis)advantage is.
The same goes with gender. HOMOSEXUAL DAY. When is that? What does it mean (if such day exist, I don't know). Gender is not generally important. You have one. Or none. Up to you, I don't care. If you identify yourself as a Labrador, be my guest.
So we have Womens day. What does it mean? Aren't all days naturally for everyone? Everything else seems to be slightly absurd wouldn't it? The question that arises is WHY some people need this day and why they want to go public about it? Isn't such a day only to highlight your weakness?
A woman can do anything she wants. NASA scientist? Check. Next generation inventor? Check. Assembler programmer? Even that. Sports champion? You bet. Musician? Also and simultaneously with all others combined.
EVERY DAY is your day. It is quite impossible to skip one day. It is not physically possible without leaving the Earth time zone. So yes, today is womens day. And mens day. And kids day. And all cats day. You get the drift?
IGNORE special days and make every day special. Not your birthday? Make it feel like it!
Embrace every second. Capture every moment. Do something great for yourself or someone else. TODAY. OR ANY DAY!
Immortality is yours - take it! /Achilles
